The Shri Ram Mandir Youth Group was founded at the Bhumi Puja of Shri Ram Mandir in July 2012. The eight founding members started this initiative through their shared passion for Indian culture and community service. The founding members envisioned the role of the group as a youth support body to enhance the quality of volunteer service provided at Shri Ram Mandir.

Through the guidance of the Shri Ram Mandir organising committee and the newly appointed Mandir Administrator, the group has been further appointed administrative roles, including events promotion and management, social media relations and to provide youth perspective on Mandir matters.

Youth initiatives include the Shri Ram Mandir Community Garden Project, Hanuman Chalisa Recital at Hanuman Mandir, Shri Ram Mandir Youth Group Ramayan Faag Mandali, Shri Ram Mandir Construction and Clean-Up Volunteers, representing Shri Ram Mandir at the Hindu Youth Conference, “Krishna Karnival” at Sai Mandir (organised by Krishna Rocks), Ganesh Utsav Yatra, Shri Ram Mandir Youth Group Photography, Shri Ram Mandir Youth Group Football Club, Shri Ram Mandir Youth Group Social Club, representing Shri Ram Mandir at the Interfaith Council’s “Flowers of Faith” programme, Waitakere Diwali, and much more.

Looking towards the future, the Shri Ram Mandir Youth Group hopes to extend its reach and expand its capabilities of providing services to the community. There is also potential for the current Shri Ram Mandir Youth Group members to become future leaders of the Shri Ram Mandir Community. The group also plans to run discussion groups to preserve the Hindu religion and culture, and seek enlightenment on the relevance of Hindu religion to Youth today.

Jaya Sia Ram!
